Verliest Nederland de slag om nieuwe media?

Jonathan Marks: Reflections on Amsterdam New MediaGisteravond zinspeelde Michiel Buitenlaar, senior vice-president Consumer bij KPN, er al op in zijn presentatie tijdens Amsterdam New Media en ook tijdens de discussie na afloop kwam de vraag naar voren. Waar staat Nederland als het gaat om nieuwe media? Moeten we ons vooral richten op techniek, distributie of creatie?

Ik heb na afloop een interessante discussie gevoerd met Jonathan Marks, Broadcast Insultant, en al geruime tijd werkzaam vanuit Nederland. Interessant omdat veel Nederlandse bedrijven en overheden geen lef hebben en blijkbaar niet zien wat er gaande is in deze globaliserende markt. Jonathan is vooral werkzaam voor buitenlandse broadcast-organisaties en heeft daardoor een andere (betere?) kijk op waar Nederland nu eigenlijk staat. Op zijn weblog Critical Distance geeft Jonathan een reflectie van de afgelopen dagen. Een kort maar krachtig betoog dat ons Nederlanders toch aan het denken zou moeten zetten!

    Hier mijn reactie op Jonathan Marks die ook hier past:

    I just had a discussion with two people how recently finished their end paper on interactive advertising. They told me that they were amazed at how well they were recived during their reserach period in London (by Skye and others). Yet they mostly found closed doors in Holland.

    Yes there are not enough guts in modern media development, where are the ideas, the execution and the money? Talpa didnt know how important middleware is..

    But better yet. you see this, I see this, but what can we do? The industry needs to be supported, educated or even inspired. The same goes for the government and advertisers.

    Who’s is in to start a digitale TV group aimed at promoting this up and coming next step, organizing mutual benefits like the red button campaign and ensuring that the lessons learnt else where are used as a starting point.
